Indoor & Outdoor Cafe Helsinki
Indoor and outdoor spaces are blending interestingly together in a new cafe Birgitta at Helsinki seaside. The first thought is that it must be a pop-up restaurant for summer season only, since the location is quite exposed to open sea in front of Helsinki. Crafting materials, both modern and traditional were strongly presented at this year’s exhibitions. The Journeywoman is inspired by the European tradition of Journeymen. Designer Xenia Mosley has been travelling down the River Ouse, East Sussex, in search of the traditional skills, crafts and materials still being practiced in Britain today. Testing various craftspeople’s patience and willingness to share, Xenia turns up on their doorsteps asking for insight into their practice as a modern-day Journeywoman. Continue reading
New Nature Centre Finland
Haltia is the new Nature Centre in Finland, close to Helsinki. It is the first public building in Finland built entirely of wood. It is a sustainable building that uses the latest ecological solutions. For example it is heated and cooled with energy derived from the sun and the earth. Continue reading
