Bloomsberg New Contemporaries is one of the most important yearly exhibitions to showcase emerging art. This year it takes place in Brixton, outside central London in a much smaller location.
The show is much “quieter” than previous years. There are no big, colourful statement pieces, instead the mood is quite downcast, literally gray.
Many works are multimedia or mixed media, continuing the direction from previous years.
Before the show has created a buzz of celebrities and party atmosphere. New direction seems to be more serious and pared down – from utopia to dystopia.
