At the moment fashion trends are not moving as fast from season to season as before. Furniture and interiors have always been changing a lot slower compared to fashion, so it is not surprising to see very similar design choices to last year’s event at London Design Festival. This year an overarching theme of Material Consequences about sustainability and new materials was very successfully implemented and taken on by many exhibitors all over the city. It was an inspiration to see so many new natural materials been developed towards industrial production.
In these ‘darker insecure times’ cosy, earthy and warm materials, colours and forms take an important role as providing shelter and security in both private and public space design.
