Fancy a glass of wine inside your local supermarket? Or perhaps a cookery lesson? Or no shopping at all; just enjoying the bar. New Waitrose in London King’s Cross is trying to make you stay longer (and buy more) by adding activities that would lengthen your stay.
The store location is a Grade II-listed Victorian building from 1850. It has been carefully restored using as much as possible original brick and iron work.
The shop and cookery school has seen the creation and recruitment of over 200 new full- and part-time jobs for the area, all becoming Partners in the John Lewis Partnership, the UK’s largest and oldest example of employee ownership.
