Tate Modern Tanks: Art in Action

Tate Modern has opened a new underground art space, The Tanks. For 15 weeks these magnificent raw, industrial spaces offer a sensational line-up of performance and events.

This is an important new platform for multimedia and performance art, which are growing art directions. Sound design especially has experienced a boom, and it is closing to become more mainstream.

Performances as unique, one-off experiences are about living in a moment and appreciating immaterial experiences over material things, which correlates to value changes of urban lifestyles.
